Outreach Initiatives: 10/11/16 -- Wheaton High School - Voice of DemocracyThis is an annual nationwide scholarship program sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). It is an audio essay contest for students in grades 9-12. The Wheaton High School Students record their audio-essays in studio. Station provides anonymous recordings on CDs for submission. Station Staff assist in hosting the group. President explains the stations/various postiions/solicits interest in broadcasting from students. We were very fortunate to have one Wheaton High student intern for us the summer before sophomore year at the University of Missouri - Columbia. 11/18/16 - Focus on Future: Attended by President & Media Director; Held at Scott Regional Tech Commons Area; Monett 8th Graders, SRTC students and Monett High School students attended; Handouts provided regarding positions availabe in broadcast; provided WebTv of event. MBA Radio Talent Institute: Feb/Mar 2017. Aired Announcements on KRMO, KKBL, KSWM & KQMO about MBA scholarships to the Radio Talent Institute (targets college students wanting a career in Broadcasting -- 10 days at Northwest Missouri State University). Brownfield Ag Youth Awards: KRMO participates with Brownfield to award youth who participate in local fairs w/ projects/speeches/presentations. They could be active 4-H or FFA Chapters. Briley Sage & Micah Anderson were awarded for their participation in the 2017 Newton County Fair -- 7/12. Cade Shepherd & Brendon Kleiboeker were awarded for their participation in the 2017 Lawrence County Fair -- 6/21/17. New Teacher In-Service Programs: -- 7/12/17 -- Letters sent to Aurora, Cassville & Monett educators introducing them to KRMO AM 990, KSMW AM 940, KKBL 95.9 FM & KQMO 97.7 FM -- detailing the programs and services provided to the communities by these stations.
